But later Vi said that Jarl was homosexual (maybe she just didn't understand him). But I really liked this book series. I give it an 8/10!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17224228.post-49936578094405236412009-04-13T08:58:00.000-07:002009-04-13T08:58:00.000-07:00-anonI don't expect everyone will agree with my th...-anon

I don't expect everyone will agree with my thoughts on Jarl, but that was my reaction while reading the book. In the very least, it isn't as clear as it should be and is a weakness.Nethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16963540055415924510noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17224228.post-40902471391517287922009-04-13T03:23:00.000-07:002009-04-13T03:23:00.000-07:00I agree with much of what you said. I might be wrong in this belief, and it might merit a reread, but I thought Jarl had become asexual (not interested in sex) due to the abuse, but he was forced by his circumstances to earn a living as a male prostitute.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17224228.post-52021820543003575682009-04-13T00:02:00.000-07:002009-04-13T00:02:00.000-07:00Just finished reading Beyond the Shadows. My gripe with Weeks is that the ending is too drawn-out and painfully too-dramatic, it was embarassing, that is why it did not get a 5 out of 5. And yes, there were inconsistencies that was irritating to read. But, the story-telling quality was 6 out of 5. So will read another Weeks work should another come out.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
