Well, I'm off on vacation to Colorado for a few days and I thought I'd leave behind something of a meme. Bookmarks - what bookmark to you use? Has it been the same for a long time? Do you use multiple bookmarks? Is your system even more complicated?
The one below has been my primary bookmark for about 8 years now. My wife gave it to me - it came from the promotional materials of the NASA mission Odyssey - she's on the science team. I'm shocked it hasn't fallen apart or been lost (aside from a day or two hiatus from time to time). It's held up remarkably well.
Here is a shot of a pile that I have laying around - some get used from time to time when I'm reading multiple books (usually parenting nonsense) and I know I others around someplace - but mostly work hard at collecting dust.
So, show us your bookmark(s).

is this related to weekly geeks or just a coincidence? At any rate lots of good bookmark posts around at the moment.
Sometimes I use real bookmarks and sometimes I use a folded sheet of paper in order to make some notes.
I had no idea about the weekly geeks thing - it's not something I follow.
Most of my bookmarks are movie tickets, with the occasional concert tic.
I like the idea of awesome bookmarks, but I just haven't run across any that I'd want to buy.
I almost never use bookmarks, for books. I have a collection of ones that have been given to me, as adverts for various companies. They live in a drawer with all the cards and pens, also given to me. My favourite, though, is currently blue tacked above my desk at work. It is for amnesty and is bright yellow. Mostly I was sick of looking at the place where the paint had peeled off the wall and I happened to have the bookmark on my desk.
I've been surprised that these comments and a couple of emails indicate that not many people use bookmarks - even one admitted to book torture.
I use whatever scrap paper I have to hand for a read-only book (dockets, old shopping or to do lists, anything really), or the paper I'm writing notes on if it's a book I'm doing research from.
