Something Completely Different
Beaumaris Castle, Beaumaris, Anglesey, Wales - I was there just about 4 years ago today.
Ahh, a lovely castle and a stones throw from where I live (Caernarfon) and work (Bangor). I can't remember the last time I visited, but it's always the same story when you live so close to places like these. Really should make the effort more often though...
My wife and I spent a lovely day in Baumaris - completely unexpected. We planned on visiting Caernarfon but the B&B owners in Conwy recommended Baumaris. The castle is great, the walk up the bluffs overlooking the channel and mountains of Wales is great, watching a soccur/football game was great, watching a nice sailing race, eating ice cream, drinking in the pub, laughing because the many of the Welsh couldn't understand our American accents....it was very nice indeed.
Beaumaris is much nicer than Caernarfon as a while and has a really nice atmosphere - really pleased to hear you enjoyed it :) I'll hopefully be able to make the excellent bonfire night they put on in November - always a pleasure!

I've been to Wales but didn't make it to that particular castle.

Whoo! Wales!
I've never been to the north, but the castles down here in South Wales are awesome. I really need to pay a visit up there sometime.
